Frequently Asked Questions for Therapy Services
-
Therapy, specifically psychotherapy, is a health care service provided by trained and licensed clinician, usually a social worker, psychologist or counselor, that assists with a variety of mental health and interpersonal concerns. Therapy can be provided to individuals, groups, families or couples. The intent is to provide support or guidance, typically through evidenced based techniques, to address the concern or area that the client wants help resolving. Examples of things that many people seek assistance with include but are not limited to: emotional regulation, coping with feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, grief, managing stress, increasing healthy relationships, addressing marital or family conflict or gathering with others who have similar experiences. Therapy has a vast area that it can cover but the ultimate goal is for it to be a supportive, non-judgmental, safe and objective way to assist with identified goals of treatment.
